SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY/AIMS OF THE SCHOOL

The Constitution of Ireland recognises parents as the primary educators of children and St. Nicholas Parochial School, sees its role as supportive of parents and families in this endeavour. The school, under the patronage of the Church of Ireland, is a community where all pupils are equally valued and respected. The school celebrates diversity. Diversity is made up of the things you can and cannot see about a person, which includes gender, custom, traditions, race, ethnic origins, beliefs, personality and the way, in which he/she works and plays. Diversity makes our school richer and more interesting. The school is part of the local church community and has strong ties with the Church of Ireland Parish of St. Nicholas. Pupils are educated in an informal atmosphere which enables them to go out as well-rounded, confident and self-assured children. The school aims to provide an opportunity for each child to reach his/her full potential in a co-educational setting and a friendly Christian atmosphere. It aims to develop in each child the capacity to think clearly, creatively and critically and is a place where moral values such as honesty, truthfulness, justice, fairness, sensitivity to others and civic responsibility are nurtured and protected.
